Tom Garrity specializes in public relations, issue management and marketing communication strategies for businesses and organizations in the public and private sectors. Tom started his Emmy Award winning career in television, holding positions as news reporter, producer and news director in Houston, Miami and Albuquerque. After more than a decade in the news business, Tom served as Vice President of Communications for the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau, overseeing publicity and promotion efforts for Albuquerque’s tourism industry.
In 1997, Tom founded The Garrity Group under the guiding principles of his personal philosophy to make the complex simple by partnering with clients to shape perceptions and generate measurable results.
Tom has since served a wide variety of clients, providing media relations and crisis communication services in the corporate, government, tourism and education sectors. He also served as Chief of Staff for Albuquerque Public Schools, before returning full-time to public relations counseling through The Garrity Group. Tom ensures The Garrity Group’s reputation as an integrity-driven firm is enhanced with every client interaction. His professional values enrich the firm’s approach to public relations and the team’s commitment to delivering clear, consistent and transparent communication on behalf of clients.
Tom’s firm has been recognized by both business and public relation peers as a trusted and reliable organization that generates profitable results for clients. Strategies developed by Tom have been honored with three Cumbre Best of Show awards from the Public Relations Society of America New Mexico Chapter, Best of the Best/Marketer of the Year award from the New Mexico American Marketing Association, National School Public Relations Association awards and the International Association of Business Communicators.
In addition to receiving recognition as a business leader by the University of New Mexico Anderson School of Management, The Garrity Group has been recognized as a Duke City 30 and Duke City Dozen Company - a designation given by the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce and the New Mexico Business Weekly to the fastest growing companies in New Mexico.
Tom received his Bachelor of Arts in radio, television and film from Texas Christian University.
