National Media & Technology Company Supercharges Community Investment Initiative with High-Profile Launch Event

Challenge: Comcast turned to the Garrity Group’s media relations and event skills to coordinate one of the largest community events of the year – the Internet Essentials launch in New Mexico. This special event introduced Comcast’s reduced Internet program for low-income families to New Mexico.

Solution: In partnership with Comcast New Mexico’s public relations team, TGG was responsible for securing Senator Tom Udall as keynote speaker, booking media interviews for Comcast’s Executive Vice President, generating at least one million media impressions in New Mexico radio, television, print, online and Hispanic media and securing on-site coverage of the launch press conference by at least two local television stations. Our team also coordinated the attendance for the event, inviting New Mexico nonprofits with strong ties to low-income families and key elected and non-elected officials.

Results: The Garrity Group team met and exceeded all of the event objectives including:

  • TGG secured a total of eight media interviews for Comcast’s Executive Vice President that included a mix of radio, print and television outlets
  • TGG generated over 1.2 million media impressions and 20 unique news stories in television, radio, print and online outlets
  • The launch event press conference was attended by local Univision, ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX affiliates
